You can shorten the top of the carb pots/damper tops and gain a little
clearance, if it helps.

And I would agree that the Richard Good set-up sure is really nice and your
"best' option but also (rightly so) rather expensive.
As an alternative: to go for the used option mentioned above... I'm pretty
sure you can use a 1.75 TR6 intake manifold for the upgrade in adapting it
to the GT6+ head. and those can be sourced for small $.
