I did the same with grease and a universal pilot tool.  Wrapped the closest bushing with duct tape until it was a close fit.  Made a mess with grease everywhere, but it worked

I happened to have an 8” length of dowel that was almost the exact diameter of the bushing.  I packed the bushing hole full of grease and drove the dowel in with a mallet.  The hydraulic pressure is plenty to move the pilot bush out.
Hadn’t heard of the toiled paper method!
