Registration opened this morning! Vintage Racer Group offers a discount for early sign-up - I'm confirming the cancellation policy, but for most events they let you cancel at no cost up to a day before, so there's good incentive to sign up early. They also assign car numbers first come, first served, so if you don't want to change the number on your car another good reason to sign up early.

I'm going to repeat some things Iv'e said before, so if you've read it all before, skip over this to the registration link in the VRG email at the bottom!!!

Hotels - we have two blocks of rooms. The Hampton is filled (30 rooms) but we have equally good ones at the Fairfield Inn in Winchester, VA, two minutes away from the Hampton. Tell them you are with Friends of Triumph to get the preferred rate.

The Fairfield's number is 540.665.8881 The rate is $83/night. You may find cheaper places to stay, but these are discounted about $50 off the regular rate, so they are a good deal for what they are. If you are looking for something cheaper, you might try the Travelodge in Winchester. Older, but pretty clean, and just as convenient.

There are also decent showers, etc at the track, electrical hook-ups throughout the paddock, etc and we will be on grass so it's a decent place to stay.

We're going to have a dedicated paddock area for the Triumph crowd - I think we will have about 40 cars - there are more than that who have said they are coming but there's always some attrition.

Winchester is about 20 minutes from the track, just off I-81. Although Charlestown, WV is a little closer (east of the track instead of west) it's more expensive because they get the casino crowd, so that's why the hotel is in Winchester. Winchester's a nice historic town with some good restaurants.

Racers should begin showing up on Weds late afternoon as there's a practice day Thursday (school starts weds am). Qualifying starts on Friday, and races start Friday afternoon and continue into Sunday. The Kastner Cup race will be the last race of the day on Saturday!

We plan to have a Triumph crowd barbecue dinner in the paddock on Friday evening, which you will are welcome to join ($20/head, including beer). Look for an email in your in-box from J.C. Hassall a week or two ago for payment instructions jhassall at gmail.com, as he is collecting money for this and tee shirts - great food - here's the menu:

Dry Rub Smoked Wings - w/ Alabama White Sauce
Chopped Texas Style Beef Brisket - W/ Memphis BBQ sauce on seeded rolls
Pulled Pork BBQ - Both Carolina & Memphis Sauces included
Homemade Cole Slaw - Freshly shredded cabbage, carrots & red onion in a cream sauce
Creamy Macaroni & Cheese - with a slight breaded topping
Mixed Green Salad - with freshly sliced vegetables and two dressings
Sweet Corn Bread
Double Chocolate Brownies
Sweet Tea
Lemonade

It's not too early to start thinking about the vintage racing season (in fact, it has begun in some locations warmer than where I live)! This year at the 2015 Jefferson 500 Brian Redman returns as our Grand Marshal. We'll also have a special guest, Kas Kastner, who will be presiding over his namesake, The Kastner Cup with the Friends of Triumph.

On-line Registration, preliminary schedule and FAQ can be found on the VRG events page:
