I will always look for a good, used OEM part before putting in the reproduction garbage on the market today. Don't get me started on TR6 trunnions!

I'll agree with you all the way on this Glen.

 

That said we are approaching a point, sadly, where certain new replacement parts are of such dubious quality, that I am wondering how we can move forward.  

 

TR3 steering box parts come to mind.

Mypoint is in regard to Vintage, not to SCCA or any other Club Rules, I should make that clear, and also that I see hub/axle mods purely for safety reasons, and fully support the use of those upgrades.
I just think that in Vintage we should stick with stock-based Triumph components re mechanicals, that's part of the challenge, but I will concede that availability of decent used cores, and lack of available new parts, is becoming an issue in some cases.
