We've got a Holley red top mounted above the fuel cell in our Spitfire 
and have had no issues with it at all.  We use a -6 fuel line all the 
way from the cell to the regulator and have a spin on fuel filter in 
line between the cell and the pump.  I've attached a photo of our setup.
