[Fot] Adding type A OD

Dusty,

I do the same as you. Engage on the throttle and disengage coasting. Been doing it that way without any problems for many miles. Plus I love the surge when that sucker kicks in.

My Laycock de Normanville service manual says the Three Speed Unit was designed to provide instantaneous gear changes. Using the clutch defeats that design intention IMHO.

I routinely hit it by accident on the Street TR6 when autocrossing which is really annoying since it has a J Type that’s wired to work in all four gears (also a bad idea as it takes forever for a J Type to build up pressure and engage overdrive in first gear... about a 5-10 second delay)
