That is essentially what I did with my TR-4 (which is now Tony Drew's car).
You specify the length, and the splined ends and adjustable arms let you 
tune the system as needed. I liked the tubular bars, since most of the stiffness
of the bar is in the outer shell, and so you have a bit less weight for the stiffness
needed.
