[Fot] Roll cage

Tony... Your caveat reminds me of an issue VSCDA had in the mid-1980s. “Just because you can afford a Ford GT40, does not mean you can drive one.” We trashed two or three of them at Road America at one event.

While I stand in awe of those able to do all of their own work satisfactorily, I always tried to hire an expert to do mine, and I would do the things I was good at to earn the money to pay them.

If I may interject .... Roll-bars !
Leave this job to a professional. A correctly designed and built cage / roll bar will pay dividends down the road not only in safety but chassis  rigidity and aesthetics.
Every Racing organization has there own guidelines/ rules ie CSRG requires a maximum of 6 points and absolutely nothing forward of the firewall .... so read your local rules and consult with the technical people within that organization. Start with Svra !

You can find vintage racing rules for most clubs on their website (VRG, SVRA, VDCA, etc).  Some club rules may vary from SCCA. like no rollbar for period correct classes.

You can download the SCCA "General Competition Rules" for free from their website.
I simply can not imagine any organization having roll cage rules any more strict.
While the entire GCR is simply huge, the section on roll cages is but a few pages.
