I got a copy of the receipt for the rebuild. Work was done by Melvin Automotive and the total price was around $1,500. Yes $1,500. If anyone is interested, I can send it to you.  Email me at vintage_british at yahoo.com.
It is listed on FB in Raleigh for $12K and he tells me his reserve price on eBay is less.  Not the car for me unfortunately.
Thx

Ty

Opinions please.   What is a fair price for a bare FE Spitfire block?  1969 Spit 1296.  Significant surface rust.

(920) 257-2233I bought a complete FE long block with internals in good shape a few years ago for the fair price of $500.
I’d say a bare block with no crank is probably only worth $100-$200.

Doing a little cleaning in the new year.  Things I think are useless are going to the dump unless you want them. First on the list is a stack of old starters and generators. I’ll never use one of these in a car I build or maintain so up for grabs, you pay shipping. I’ve probably collected a dozen of each over the years. Mostly TR3/4 stuff.

Let me know, dump run is later this week.

#yiv1881061199 P {margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;}Tom Householder, with his great breadth and depth of knowledge of early Triumphs, correctly identified Austin Davis in the photo I posted that was taken at the May 19-20, 1956 Cumberland National. The story of Austin Davis is quite interesting and you may want to read the article I wrote about him several years ago. The article appeared in the Vintage Triumph Register, the TRA Register newsletter, and TR Action magazine UK. I would like to continue with recognition of women who raced Triumphs. I am attaching two photos of Anne Palo Davis, Austin’s wife, at the 1st Annual Sports Car Races Akron October, 1954.
