Speaking of restriction: the originator of the thread mentioned that he recently installed a new radiator.
I once installed a custom radiator in another old car. The new radiator was extra thick with many rows of fins and tubes, replacing an old “honeycomb” style radiator. It turns out that this extra thick ( about 3 inches) core was very restrictive on air flow compared to the original honeycomb. The car overheated on the highway, something it never did before. As with the TR, the radiator fan was not shrouded.
So, I wonder if the new radiator is thick enough to reduce air flow compared to the original? That could cause operating temperature to rise.
