I agree never use OD in 2nd & of course do use in 4th.  We run a 4.1 & do use 3rd OD quite often.  I find that The Rpm drop from 3rd to 4th is  about 6to7 White 3rdOD to 4th is about 4to5.  Also on short shuts When I run out of revs it’s easier to use 3rdOD & just push a button to get back to 3rd for the corner.

True, Bastuck has two version:
4-speed – and
4-speed with J-OD.

With a dogbox you don’t need OD in 2nd.
OD is just in top gear for me.
The dogbox shifts quicker as the OD.

The Bastuck gear set is J-type only... it has a j-type main shaft and that is not interchangeable with the A-type. So o/d 3rd and 4th only. Unless you can make enough pressure to engage in 2nd, I guess.

Instead of the Borg style does anyone make a Diaphragm style for the TR3?  I’m using an OD gearbox.
