[Fot] Pistons

It has been over 15 years since I used Wiseco pistons, so I don't know if their composition or specs have changed since then.  I found that they grew more than they should have and were scoring cylinder walls.  Piston to bore clearances were set to their specs, but that turned out to be too tight.  This happened with two sets.  I went to custom made Diamond pistons and have not had scored walls since.  I've heard that lately Diamond wants orders of at least 8 pistons, but I don't have first hand knowledge of that.  For a custom pop-up design, I used body filler on a piston top to make a model and then they computer copied that to make the new pistons.  JoeB

Dave,I have a long and unpleasant tale about J&E I attempted to order for my Sprite race engine. After many months they crapped out and I went to Wiseco. The originally said 12 weeks for custom made, coated flat-tops. They then updated it to 6 weeks, and finally delivered the pistons in just 3 weeks! They were also very easy to deal with regarding the specifics of the engine. I have since ordered forged 89mm coated set for my TR3 race car (through BFE), and again they were way faster than they originally claimed. Good looking parts and very good to deal with. As an interesting aside, they seem to have purchased J&E, so maybe they will get better?
Cheers,Jake
