The parts are a TR6 bonnet and boot lid. I talked to the potential buyer and he's not in a major rush, so it looks like transportation around the Wild Hare might work for him. Alternately, if anyone on this list has either of these parts and is close to Charleston, SC - drop me a line and I can hook you up with the guy. Message-ID: Friends, Thanks to our own media maven Shawn Frank, we have been nudged to get going with our first press release and the event poster! Those of us who belong to the Vintage Triumph Register get the magazine, The Vintage Triumph, and know that Shawn is the editor. Be sure to look for coverage in every issue from the next one due in a few weeks all the way up to the event next fall! Thank you Shawn for the great support!!! Details for the event are starting to come together. I will share the pertinent facts as they become available. Event Poster: I have attached the event poster, thanks to Curt Johnston for helping us with that! Schedule: Test day is the Tuesday immediately preceding the event. The track is happy to have racers park their race rigs at the track in the assigned spot for the event on Tuesday, but you can't stay at the track until Thursday. On Thursday, the track hosts a drive through the Berkshire Mountains open to race cars and street cars alike, a real treat for many. The drive ends in Falls Village, a quaint town a couple miles from the track for an old-fashioned street fair. On Friday we practice in the morning, qualify in the afternoon. Then two races on Saturday, and on Monday morning we have another race before the main event. We run the Kastner Cup race right after lunch with the ceremony to present the Kastner Cup after the race. Eligibility: The race is open to all Triumph powered race cars. The caveat is, as always, tire rules. Cars must run on Vintage tires, meaning no slicks. I urge any potential participant to contact me with details of your car and we will do everything possible to get you in the race. Triumphs get their own run group: There could be some exceptions to this one, if we get too many Triumphs registering for the event we may be forced to bump the uber-fast cars to fast group, or a car prepped well beyond Vintage rules may run with a more appropriate group. Same may apply to some of the less-fast cars, we may have to bump them to a not-so-fast group. But we will all race together on Monday afternoon for the Cup. Lodging: This will be a challenge. We urge everyone who is planning on attending and not camping at the track to secure bedspace as soon as possible. The closest town with a variety of known hotel chains is Great Barrington, Massachusetts, about 30 minutes from the track. It is not practical to identify a host hotel for this one, the hotels are not large and get filled up early. An option some racers use is to double (or triple) up and secure lodging from AirB&B or VRBO. There are houses available in the area that work well for this. Also, there is information on Lime Rock's website with some closer options, but none of them are large and the scope of this annual event usually has them filled by the same racers year to year! Sponsorship: As always, there will be expenses that the FOT needs to cover. We are soliciting donations for sponsorship as we have done in the past. Please contact me, Henry Frye, with any questions or with any interest in sponsorship. We will continue to use the gofundme page for those looking for a convenient way to contribute. Sunday: Lime Rock Park operates under a moratorium that prohibits running race engines on Sundays. The track pivots on Sunday to host a large concours and car show. Race cars are invited to participate, but each one gets towed down to the front straight on the track as we can't run them! We are in process of securing prime car show space for our friends with their street cars. Our plans for Sunday are still in process, but we envision some FOT gathering for dinner, libation and socializing. Again, stay tuned for more details as they develop. Feel free to reach out with any questions, I will do my best to get back to you quickly! We look forward to seeing you at the Lime Rock Historic Festival next fall! The Thursday afternoon (charity) drive is like a ?Mini-Me? New England version of what Road America does.? The drive takes you through Lakeville and Salisbury where folks line the roads to cheer and wave. In Salisbury, the cars wends?through an assisted living facility where the course bends back on itself and threads over country?roads almost back to the track, where a?left turn near the entrance?leads to Falls Village, just?a few miles down the road where the cars are parked, beer and hotdogs can be consumed live music provides a great background to peruse the race cars and street cars that participated. Around?dusk, cars begin to leave. Unlicensed race cars without headlights (like mine) are escorted safely?back to the track by the?local Gendarmes. It really brings out some special cars, enthusiastic people,?and it?s for a good cause, usually the local food bank. (Gas?tank full?before you go!) On Friday night, the track hosts a large dinner for the drivers and one?guest?under a huge tent on the hill overlooking the track. Wine and beer flow freely, and the food can be pretty good, too. After dinner, there is usually a featured guest who?after a short interview, takes questions from the audience. Everyone stumbles off?to bed happy. This has always been one of?my favorite weekends. The racing, the Sunday in the Park car show, the festival atmosphere where fans walk freely through the paddock-?all great fun.? I am really looking forward to next years Kastner Cup.?And I?m determined to not be LAST this time!?I hope to see some of you that I became acquainted with in Portland and Sonoma at the K Cups there. (It?s your turn to do the long haul ?).? Heed Henry?s?words about lodging if?you don?t stay in your trailer. The Historic Racing Group, https://historicracinggroup.com/ ,in concert with VSCCA and Empire Drivers, will be racing at Lime Rock Fri-Sat May 30-31, 2025 (Fri-Sat after Memorial Day). We, and the VSCCA, will have some spots open for non members who would like to get some racing time in at the track before the K Cup. There will also be two track day groups at the event if you want more of a tune and test than wheel to wheel competition. Wheel to Wheel groups: HRG- Multiclass racing. We allow SCCA production and GT based race cars from the early 60s through 1983. Think Spitfire/TR4/TR6/TR7/TR8 from the Triumph fold. VSCCA - Rick McCurdy and other earlier TRs, as well as Triumph based sports racers should race with VSCCA. Track day groups: Passing only allowed on the straights Two separate sessions, based on car prep and experience level. All of the advanced groups are generally full-on race cars, some modern cars will be in this group. All groups can run unmuffled, one of just 7 open exhaust days allowed at the track (K Cup will be open exhaust). Two day event, free camping (no hookups) allowed at the track, participant (including crew) party on Friday night. Unlimited crew, a ton of track time with 3-4 sessions per group per day. It's a fun event that we consider our friends and family weekend. Details and entry form will be on the HRG website in a week or so. If you have any questions, send me an email. thanks Henry, really looking forward to the KCup at my home track. mike harmuth On Mon, Nov 11, 2024 at 9:44?AM yellow04 via Fot wrote: > Friends, > > Thanks to our own media maven Shawn Frank, we have been nudged to get > going with our first press release and the event poster! The "magic clutch" combo of the Sachs PP and a proper clutch disk is a great option. I also have done a lot of Borg and Beck setups from Goodparts. Just make sure to match the t/o bearing to the type of fingers on the PP. Curved fingers = flat face on t/o bearing and flat fingers = curved t/o bearing face. I'm, also a fan of the bronze t/o bearing sleeve that TRF sells. There's no pin to stop the rotation so you don't get dents in the sleeve that wind up limiting the amount of clutch action. TRF used to include "bear grease" with the Magic Clutch kit, but I've used regular axle grease - sparingly - and no take backs. The Borg and Beck kits come with lube for the splines - that's really important for cars that don't put on a lot of miles because the clutch disk can rust onto the transmission input splines when the car sits for a long time. Take your pick on suppliers, but Goodparts has been great for me. BPNW is great too. And TRF, of course. c ya,rml On Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 09:41:38 PM EST, Jeff Snook via Fot wrote: Not a race car, but we are working on a one owner 1974 TR6 with only 25K miles that has been sitting for 40 years.? The link for the event is below with all the details. Triumph - MG Challenge | PVGP The cliff note version is as follows: July 11 through the 13th at Pittsburgh International Raceway (PittRace), Team Triumph will be taking on Team MG for the soon to be infamous PVGP Triumph MG trophy. For no additional entry fee, you will get to run one Triumph/MG challenge race on Saturday and a second one on Sunday. Saturday will be a Team Triumph vs Team MG race with the winning team being awarded the trophy based on each team's racers finishing position. This is not just the fastest car in the marquee winning, this is a TEAM challenge. Sunday will be a king of the hill race with the fastest Triumph or MG taking the honors. This will be in ADDITION to all the regular PVGP sessions for your normal run groups. Unbeatable track time! If you have never raced PittRace, it is a fantastic track. 2.8 miles, 19 corners, 3 long straights and 101 feet of elevation changes. If that's not enough, how about an all-paved paddock, and the icing on the cake: AIR-CONDITIONED BATHROOMS AND SHOWERS. Where else can you find that? Take the time to read the announcement, there is some pretty special stuff going on for both the racers and the Triumph/MG spectators. Put it on your schedule, you will have a blast! The Cambridge headers are not the same as Ken Gillanders supplied to so many of us over the years, but I have no doubt the same manufacturer was responsible for making both. The primaries on Ken's header were significantly shorter, the collector was on the straight section of pipe under the starter. I have not had Old Blue on track yet with the Cambridge header, but I made so many other changes this rebuild that I am afraid I will not really be able to say what kind of difference they make. Gillanders believed headers with the 1 5/8's inch primaries were the way to go, he had all the fast TR3/4 racers in the east running them. The vast majority of TR3/4 headers we see, and as Bob Kramer states, we all have hanging on our walls, have smaller primary tubes, usually 1 1/2 inch. It seems every year or so a racer is looking for a header for a TR3/4, and as there doesn't appear to be an obvious supplier, it turns into a scramble. Do we know if somebody selling TR3/4 headers with the larger primary tubes? We know a lot of work has been done comparing the length of the primary tubes, but has anyone done any dyno work comparing headers with different primary tube diameters??? Some dyno time would be terrific. If my memory is working today, Cambridge sold these in two different lengths. I bought the long ones. Ken might have sold the shorter ones. It would not be hard to shorten those and move the collector up. Would make them easier to fit on a TR3A. I still have a set on the TR4. The ones you have were on the Warwick GT with 42 DCOE carbs. Ted, for the group, any update on your oven and when you might be able to produce more screens? Thanks! Trying to source a TR6 Group 44 type wind screen - mine is cracked. I checked with TSI a few months ago and he needed at least 5 orders to make some new ones. Also, checked with Aircraft Windshield Co, and they have the mold for Spitfires, but not TR6's and would need the original to make a mold. Have an email into Huffaker Motorsport as well. Any other sources I should check?
