Consider that SCCA held its Runoffs at VIR in 2019, 2022 and 2023. So whatever SCCA helmet/safety rules existed obviously met Virginia requirements.

A quick perusal of Virginia laws indicates that they worry about racing on state roadways (that is, they prohibit it), not on closed courses such as VIR.
The motorcycle laws require helmets, but they do not state a particular standard, only compliance with requirements set out by Snell or other standard-making bodies.

I've been letting my race group know about the NJ 2015 helmet rule. Someone asked if Virgina, which they thought had similar state rules for motorsports would be doing the same thing. Anyone know if VIR will have the same restriction next year? I've never raced (yet) in VA so I have no idea how things run there.
