Henry,
I place a block of 1"x2" pine along the shroud side flange just above the 
door hinge brace structure. Then I can carefully pry against the wood which 
is spreading the load along the flange and the shroud will start to loosen. 
I pry a little on each side, going back and forth until the shroud comes 
free. It's always worked well for me without causing any damage to anything.
