[Healeys] electrical problem

out cruising with the frau this evening burning $4.00 a gallon gasoline and
enjoying it immensely when i noticed the dreaded no charge light was on.  I
DID NOT PANIC.  I calmly stated that andy rooney was coming on in a few
minutes and i wanted to see it.  i knew not to mention any kind of problem,
having paid the price before.  when safely ensconced in the garage, i did a
quick troubleshoot.  no loose wires or belts.  the  light does not come on
when turning on ignition and will not begin to flicker until slightly above
idle, then comes on bright.  any help appreciated before i begin the involved
troubleshoot.  hjim
