[Healeys] chirp/squeek in BN-1

My car has a chirp - chirp - chirp most of the time. It does it when moving
and when idling. It sounds like it's coming from under the hood or under the
dash. I just discovered that when I turn the steering wheel to the left
(while idling) it stops. It must be coming from the steering column - I
would guess. Has anyone else had this experience? Getting into the steering
column looks like a big job.
