[Healeys] Vent window rubber BJ8

I am trying to place the vent window glass into the frame which I had
rechromed and cannot get the rubber buffer/seal to stay in place whether I
put it on the glass first or insert it into the channel first.  Is there a
glue, oil or glazing product that will hold the rubber in place but not to
the point where if it needed to be removed again would not destroy the
rubber?
