Hi John,
I fitted a rack to a 100 and you can see some pictures of the job on Larry
Varley's site here http://www.acmefluid.com.au/larry/ahx12-1.html
The rack I used was from an MGB and I can see no reason why the same could
not be done on a 3000.

Subject: [Healeys] power Steering on a 3000

Dear All

I have a colleague who drives a 3000 but lost his right leg when a
teenager. He has mechanical hand controls for the accelerator and foot
brake. Like many of us he is beginning to feel his age and has problems
steering with one hand when manoeuvring.

We have discussed fitting power steering to a 3000 with a friend of mine
in the special car adaption business and he suggests adding power to a
steering rack. This can be done to most racks and he also knows that an
electrically driven hydraulic power steering pump is available.

The issue then is how to replace the present steering box with a
steering rack on a 3000.

We are aware that this has been done before but do not know anybody who
we can contact who has done this. I am sure that there is somebody out
there who has done this. If you know anybody please let me know.

My colleague does not want to have to give up driving his 3000 just
because his arms are getting a little weaker.

Regards
