[Healeys] Jumpy Speedo Redux

Now I'm pretty much convinced my speedo problem is due to the cable, or 
maybe the right-angle drive.  I've cleaned and lubed the cable and it 
looks fine; can a normal-appearing cable still cause problems (jumpy 
needle)?  Also, the right-angle drive is the original, with over 150K 
miles--is it possible/likely this is causing the problem?
