contracts. Each type of metal has a different characteristic. I was in
Smitty's shop a few years back and he was explaining what he went through to
make his bell housing for the Toyota transmission conversion. His master
mould had to account for two cycles of shrinking. He'd make expendable
intermediate moulds from the master.

But one wonders, why did they go to all the trouble of laser scanning the
part
and creating a plastic rendition when they could have simply used the old
part
as a pattern to sand cast the new part?
