[Healeys] Black fender wells? On a white BJ8?

Actually, we've seen a number of early BN4 100/Six's that were OEW with
black coves, and they had their engine bays painted black.

No, not true. The only instances of OEW cars having black underbody is 
early BN1s. After that, the cars were painted once and only once, body
color. 
(oversprayed coves on two-tones). The only circumstances under which a white
car would have black fender wells would be with a dealer-applied
undercoating 
(which we do not recommend replacing) or a sloppy restoration.
