Ron,  Put an ammeters in the charging circuit either permanently or
temporarily and see if the current flow ever nulls out after the battery fully
charges.  A volt meter will tell you if the battery is up to voltage but the
ammeter will tells you if the generator is putting out.

Is there an easy or simply way to test my regulator to see if it is putting
ut enough current to keep my battery charged?  I know my generator is working
ut my 3 year old Optima battery ran down after a long drive with my regular
ead lights on.  I think the generator should have put out enough charge to
un the lights and keep the battery charged during the 2 hour drive.
