Hi Mike,

What you are actually trying to do when you are lining up those spines is rotate the spine on the inside of the unidirectional clutch to line it up with the spine above it.

Once you realize that the only way that this can be achieved is by turning the lower spine in the correct direction (it will only rotate one way relative to the spine above) it is not that difficult.

A long screwdriver will do the job.

All,
I know I have to line up the splines in the OD, but I can't get them to
move independently so they'll line up.  They're remaining perfectly
misaligned.  I'm doing this with the main shaft out of trans figuring it
will easier now than man handling the whole box later.  I slide the main
shaft until it engages the first splines and rotate it, but when I remove
it the alignment of the splines hasn't changed.  Did I do something wrong
when I put the OD back together?
