i make sure the groove on the piston is clean(new ones not a problem), install the new seal ring in the groove, gently push 
piston coated with rubber grease about halfway down, making sure that bottom of seal does not pop out of the groove.  
once about halfway down, i take a plastic or wood stick and gently ease the top of the rubber seal into the groove in the 
piston.  using a c clamp i gently ease the piston on down until it is flush.  some are easy, some are not.
