[Healeys] Fuel Tank size

When checking gas mileage there is a lot of things to look at.
    First of all is that odometer correct. I have an app on my phone that I use to confirm speed and mileage.
    Tire sizes will make a big effect on mileage.
    Timing, mixture, worn carb needles, etc

Roger and David:  I have a NEW MOSS tank for a BT7.  Well about 1 year old so shouldn't be clogged with dirt. 

The  mileage I get ( 14 - 15 MPG) is fairly steady.  Folks keep saying I should be getting 18 BUT I don't know how to do that.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

When I remove the plugs they are a very light tan which I believe is correct mixture.  What else can one do??????

  Are we talking about a new steel or aluminium tank, I have measured a new alloy tank and a original steel tank and they are almost identical in size. 

  I have filled up the OE tank with about 14 gals of water. The poured that into the new tank and the capacity of the new tank is actually a little larger.

  always thought it was a 12 US gallon tank. Maybe you have lots of crud in your tank...

  I get about 18 MPG and can go over 200 miles between fill ups on long drives

    Roger I have the same problem.  They say it was supposed to be over 14 gallons or about 54 liters.  I ran mine out of gas.  Put two gallons into.  Should have been able to fill it with 12 gallons - distance to the station was less than a mile.  I actually put in 8.5 gallons.  I looked through the Moss Cat. and can find no specs. on the capacity of the tank. 

    So I just have to plan carefully where I am going.  Here in NV you can go long distances between stations.

    I wonder how many other folks have the same problem???
