Well I can only add that the two BJ8s I have owned had body color for the deflectors.

Michael is giving you the references about the Austin-Healey 100 and you own a BN4 which does not have the same front pieces.Having said that, your car has only one  front “X” brace and yes it is painted black. As far as the “air intake Deflector is concerned, it is also painted black  as well as the brace at the bottom of it.The rear shroud bottom edge is also painted semi gloss black, on some cars BJ8 it has been seen is glossy black. I do not have photos of this area but that is the area where your rear shroud meets the rear floor, held by flat head rivets.   Jean   Sent from Mail for Windows 10      From: Healeys <healeys-bounces at autox.team.net> on behalf of Michael Salter <michael.salter at gmail.com>

Subject: Re: [Healeys] Black faces Again from the Concours Guidelines. 2018 Edition Pg 91.

Double front X-braces immediately behind the grille are painted body color, except some white cars had this brace painted black 44.
• Front inner apron panels fastened to vertical division panels using pan head Phillips screws and large flat washers, which were also painted body color. Very early cars have been found to have only the horizontal panel and not the vertical one. In these cases where the vertical panel is missing, the two holes located on the front-to-back center portion of the panel are missing.  On OEW 100s where the engine compartment was painted black, these inner apron panels were also black.
44 If you find your car fits the exception document it and restore, as you believe it was.  Otherwise, paint the braces body color.

Can someone post a photo of the lip?My brace is painted blue, but everyone tells me to paint it black before I reinstall my grille... What about the air dam, should it be black or body color?

I read the following question recently on facebook, but no clear  answer was given. Does anybody know, especially to the cross panel in front of the radiator?

Is it right that the lower lip on the rear shroud was painted (semigloss) black on 6 cylinder Austin-Healeys and the same was with the cross panel front face in front of the radiator? Are there other body panels which are not just bolt on painted in black?
