Steve, are you planning on driving the Healey to Deadwood.  If so I would not recommend to do that with a low compression. If it is a burnt valve then you will greatly increase the chances of cracking the head. If it is rings then you will use a lot of oil.

I would recommend a leak test right away. Then you can determine if the low compression is a valve problem or a ring problem.

So ...Have you done a "leak-down test" to confirm where (intake/exhaust/rings) the bad one is bad?
