Whether it's from Japan or anywhere else is immaterial. The early 240Z cars
are in the memories of those with a high disposable income and they realise
that such models are in short supply and therefore bring good money.

We have a member in our AH club who apart from his BN2 and BJ8 also has a
couple of very early 240Zs. There are telltales with the 240Z as there are
with early 100s and such cars in good condition are bringing good money.

Like yourselves I was initially surprised, but when you think about it the
logic is easy to see.

He sent me the attached photo of a meeting of 240Z owners at the Mt Panorama
Circuit, Bathurst that might be of interest.

Just got an email from Hyman Ltd which sells high end and exotic cars.
Today they are offering a restored 1970 Datsun 240Z.  They are asking
$78,500!  Never thought I would see a Japanese car rise to that level of
worth.
