Hi Mirek
You speak for yourself and a limited few not for all the individuals who are subscribers to the Healey list and either do not wish to comment or find Josef views quite acceptable and see not need to comment. In reading Josef's post of October 7th (which appears at the bottom of this page) it is very concise and well stated. Further, the individual driving the BN1/2 may have decided to avoid an accident but had not judged the verge of the road correctly (and all the related factors including his reflexes as an 82 year old person).
Kind regards
Ed

Guys, let it be. Josef has been clear on how he feels and we have collectively told him what we think of his opinions. There will be no changing his mind, so lets accept that he lives by a different moral code that none of us (at least those that posted replies), agree with, and get back to using the list for providing mutual support to keep our Healeys on the road.
Cheers, Mirek

So it isn´t allowed to say anything negative, even its the truth?
Is that the world you are living?
But to get back to the facts. An 82-year-old driver of a vintage car lost control of his vehicle while
driving in Italy, drove into a ditch and killed himself and his wife in an accident. Let's assume that instead of driving into the ditch, he would have collided with another road user which can be very likely and
this would have been injured or killed. The police, especially in Italy where it happened, would have arrested the person who caused the
accident immediately, the car would have been confiscated and the driver's license would have been
withdrawn forever. No mercy! The driver would then have had to answer in court and would probably not have been happy with his life anymore. Someone who has some sense does not put himself in such a situation.
It's just foolish at such an old age, probably through hubris, to submit to such a danger. I don't want to imply anything, but maybe a glass of wine was drunk as well, as is customary in Italy.

I do not see a need to please Mr and Mrs Twaite's daughter. When she is grieving, she better would have kept her parents from doing such a silly thing as a multi day rally or planned drive in their high age.
Now she even lost her mother, who was definitely innocent.
Sorry, when it sounds harsh what I write, but English language is not my mother tongue and I write this in English as I would write it in German language.

I don't think Mr. Twaite's daughter, Carolyn, would be too pleased to read some of the comments about this accident. She and her dad seemed to have a lovely relationship based on classic cars and she must be grieving right now: https://www.classicdriver.com/en/article/cars/father-daughter-restocar-workshop-montreux

Hello
I wasn’t going to comment, but have had a change of mind.
After being a member of this list for close to 30 years for the first time I considered chucking it in. I do not share Josef’s opinion.
We are all entitled to our own opinions and should be free to state them without fear or favour. There are also ways and places of passing on opinions, and this avenue is not one of them. What I have seen here over the last few days simply shocked me and I am of the belief that it’s time to move on.
