[Healeys] massive oil leak

car has a spin on filter and it is not leaking from there.  put car on jackstands and started engine.  oil is only coming from motor/trans plate and hole in bellhousing.  having trouble understanding how so much oil can get past rear bearing even if totally worn, which it is not.  checked all breathing areas and no pressure buildup.  could a crack between oil gallery and bearing area be problem?  none visible from underneath bearing cap>
