Why not clean it with Brake Clean?

I have a pressure bleeder to bleed the brake and clutch. To clean it, the instructions say to use denatured alcohol (unobtainium in California) or a weak solution of simple green.

 

Because brake fluid is hydroscopic I was wondering if the bleeder parts can be washed out with water. Of course I would let it dry very thoroughly before using it again
