[Healeys] Healeys Tires/wheels lose

A knockoff can loosen if it is tightened with the weight of the car on the wheel.  It happened to a friend of mine when we were returning from Conclave in San Diego.  I asked him if he jacked up the wheels when he tighten a knockoff.  He said he didn’t.  I do, and have never had one loosen, as proved by the “witness marks” I make on the knockoff and wheel hub.  Any movement is always in the tightening direction.  Always jack up the wheel to tighten the knockoff.

Just a warning to all.  As you may imagine, sometimes our wheels may ? loosen.  Had my BJ8 on the lift today, checking brakes.  Jiggled the wheels, just because.  Rear left had “significant" lateral movement.  Took the old rubber mallet and had to tighten almost 1/4 turn.  Very scary.  Please check your wheels whenever your car is on a lift.  Happy rides.
