Many to say “push that side of the radiator forward” to make room for your hands and a socket or other wrench.

No the grill stays in place and even the radiator can as well. Instead, undo the mounting bolts on ONE SIDE of the radiator and pull that side back enough to squeeze your hands in and access the fan bolts first and then the pump. I’ve found pulling off the fan before removing the pump is far easier (and probably essential). Done this many times; slightly easier on a Six than a Four cylinder Healey, but not awful in either case. BTW, this is a good time to put in an uprated pump rather than a Chinese special …

Healeyphiles,    I discover now that the water pump of my Bj8 has, after 145k miles, developed a leak. Other than removing fan and radiator, does the grill have to be removed to access the pump for removal. I pray all can be done with the engine in the car. Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.......rich antal_______________________________________________
