[Healeys] Blower Motor

Hi,
Happy New Year folks.
Cold here so I thought I'd turn the blower on to raise the temperature in my MkII BT7 from frigid to cold. So far as I can see, there is nothing coming out of said blower. No air, lukewarm or whatever. Now, the motor was running....a) I could hear it and b) I could see the volt meter increase/decrease for a second when I switched it on/off.
So, the question is:- Can the blades become detached from the spindle? ie seemingly, we have the motor spinning but the blades remaining stationary. Make sense? Anyone encountered this one?
