As it now sits, the Houston Sector stars in Lafayette LA and ends in Houston
(pending you wanting to take on the Houston downstream non-Dallas sector).
The route from your upstream handoff point (currently Lafayette) to your
downstream handoff point (currently Houston itself [again pending]) is up to
you. The location of the handoff points is again up to you, with any
changes needing cooperation of the appropriate neighbouring SC.

And I think non-interstate travel is a preferable route, as I think we want
to highlight not only point A or point B on the map, but also the non
straight line between them.

That's the general idea. I was actually thinking about a different (more
scenic) route from Houston to Austin.
You take I-10 west about 70 to Columbus, then Hwy 71 North into Austin. And
since the drive is so short, I may even take them past Columbus on 10 and
into San Marcos, then to Austin. There's a small town brewery with a big
name in Shiner, TX. Are brewery tours allowed on this trip?

Are we shooting for major highways like this, or does the tour prefer the
smaller backroads? Also, will the tour be coming into Houston from
Louisiana off of I-10?
