Fazal: my understanding is the same as yours: this is a Jaguar run. Jaguar owners, whose cats let them down at the last minute, might be forced to make the trip in a brand X. They should not PLAN to drive a Brand X, otherwise we still end up with a hotch-potch of cars.

Actually, No. My understanding was that to register one should have a Jaguar to run in. In an emergency (last minute breakdown, etc) the registered party can come in a non-Jag vehicle. Otherwise, we appear to be back to 'anyone/any vehicle' entry.
Am I wrong?

I've run away and come back now that the heat has died down ... if I follow the gist of this thread (with a little bit of biased personal interpretation) ... the majority thinking is "Jaguar Enthusiasts" driving preferably their Jaguars, but alternatively whatever they want (such as a MGB-uar or Jeep-uar).
