Writing "Pounds/Feet" or "Foot/Pounds" might give people the wrong
impression of torque being a result of pounds divided by feet or feet
divided by pounds rather than being a multiplication of both dimensions.

I think "Pounds/Feet" is correct, but "Foot/Pounds" sort of rolls off the
tongue and sounds "right".
Sort of like how people use "an" when they should say "a".
It just sounds better!
