Don, glad you got this sorted. As to the electrical problem, re polarize the
generator again. I replaced my cutout with a diode which eliminates the relay
as a problem. Nick Feakes of the MMM Register forum has an article on how to
do this.Terry

Thank you to Gerhard and Lawrie (via Terry) for the vertical drive oil leak
fix. As I attacked several obvious seals, gaskets, new lip seals and over
all better work this time.... I believe your suggestions to address the fit
of the woodruff key and slot and bottom fixing nut of drive gear nailed it!
After moving cam gears one tooth, car now starts on first try with no
stumbles and purrs like a kitten with NO oil leaks anywhere!
I originally went after this issue as low rev light would not go out and
assumed dynamo was full of oil so first issue was to resolve oil leak
issue. Dynamo was also taken to shop for cleaning and re-excite and given a
clean bill of health. However, light remains on at all rpm. Tried to take
readings at dynamo but my cheap meter goes nuts and I think static
discharge from spark plug wires and dizzy are culprits. I'm looking at
cutout or dynamo but again stumped. Why would a cutout fail from simply
being in storage? All other electrics work and all fuses good. Any more
great suggestions on a 1-2-3 step resolution?
In any case, thanks men for the info!!
Don B.
