Message-ID: <7072d9a1-7754-4662-997c-f7d6198c32db@bradakis.com> Nearly half my life! Team dot Net went on the air 35 years ago today, April 11th, 1991. Been through a lot of ups and downs over the years, many different computers, different ISPs, but almost always there. I won't go into the times that ISP problems shut it down for days, or even weeks at a time. But it is still here, still on the air, still serving the purpose I have always upheld, connecting like minded users to mostly car stuff. And always for free. I do remember back in the beginning it was pretty expensive to run. Fast, at home internet was not widely available. And the first server, one of the earliest PCs in the valley to run at over 100 Mhz ( Yes, MEGA Hertz! ) cost me $2,500 dollars. Luckily paid for by generous contributions from list members. Time marches on, and so does Team Net. I'll keep it going as long as I can, health permitting. Who knows, maybe I'll be sending out a 50th birthday notice! mjb. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... They confirmed that the bolt pattern is 4x114.3. I've been looking for a set of alloy wheels for awhile because the ROSstyle steel wheels on my car are rusted badly inside, and that causes problems with tire sealing and slow leaks. It's time for a new set of tires, so if these wheels are right, the timing would be about perfect. Has anyone used wheels like this on their MGB before? Besides the fact that they're alloys and appear to need little more than a cleanup, they have a kind of funky retro old-school cool look to them. I've asked the seller if they know width and offset, and they'll be able to tell me this evening. We can't share photos on here, but anyone who responds and wants to see a photo, I can share one if that would help. What? Why do you think that? Wheels like these? mjb. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... They are indeed the same 4x4-1/2 bolt pattern, but the centering hole in the wheel was smaller than the centering ridge on my hubs. They might work with some sort of an offset plate, if you don't mind messing up your suspension geometry. You also need to check for offset, and make sure that your tires will still fit under your wheel arches. I did pick up a couple of sets of minitor minilite replicas that worked, and are at least somewhat period correct. Though now, I'd go for some 15x7 wheels because it is so much easier to get tires for that size wheel. > On Apr 16, 2026, at 5:50?AM, wkilleffer at epbfi.com wrote: > > Hello everyone, > > Someone near me has advertised a set of vintage alloy Datsun 280ZX 14" wheels. Strap it onto a wood pallet, call a truck freight company, and pay something like $200 to go almost anywhere int the continental us. Another possibility that might be less expensive. Wrap it in corrugated cardboard to make it closed and clean to handle by hand. Look at point of origin and point of destination. Find the mose sensible bus route there, same as if you wanted tobuy a bus ticket to pesonally go somewhere. then call the bus company to see if you can ship it by bus freight. the packge must be delivered to the origin bus terminal, and it must be picked up at the destination bus terminal. En-route, they just throw it into the side door cargo space under the floor, and drag it out when it gets to the destination terminal. Travel buses commonly have lots of excess space under the bus floors,so bus freight can go anywhere the busses travel, with very reasonable freight rates. Food for thought.
