Message-ID: OK so I am getting rid of the overhang of the outer wheel arch down from the inner arch. I am replacing the metal with a curved sheet lap welded along the circumference of the arch and then to the outer wing to form a lip This is going to take a lot of time to avoid distorting panels, I was going to spot weld the curved panel to the outside surface of the inner arch stub Then, using the shortened shockers for the rears and the offset upper shocker mounts I can hit the deck The brake lines, fuel lines and battery cable will be routed inside out of harms way and the leading edges of the RC40 skidded for good measure (skid plates) Anyone done this mod and care to share experiences? The front arches will be trimmed down (easy) then hopefully mini special arches refitted FB -- =========================== On Linked In: http://uk.linkedin.co m/in/drjohnbullas On Academia.edu: https://soton.academia.edu/JohnBullas On Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/johnbullas/ Latest Project(s): https://www.flickr.com/photos/johnbullas/albums/72157665153556498 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Message-ID: Well the rear arches have been modified to eradicate the overhang and some gaz adjustabes (shortened for lowered vehicles) ... apart from working out how to get the f**king gaitor back on the knuckle joint that is.... The front is a different matter: you can save ????'s by buying a set of lowered front shockabsorber mountings with the pivit shaft about 15mm higher up .... unless you have front brace bars and and expansion tank bang where the top of the shockers will be..... after the inner wing got welded up where the surface rust extended into full depth rot! Now as the front shockers on the car are well shafted generic standard shock absorbers without adjusters so the rear GAZ will be joined with a set in front Now the front arches will need opening up (hello mr tin snips) then The bottom of the car will need a bit of work to add skid plates to the leading edges of the exhaust boxes and possibly an extension of the sump guard back to somewhere Any how, no fires, no holes, no tears.... MOT friday - just need to spin up the front discs to get rid of the surface rust FB -- =========================== On Linked In: http://uk.linkedin.co m/in/drjohnbullas On Academia.edu: https://soton.academia.edu/JohnBullas On Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/johnbullas/ Latest Project(s): https://www.flickr.com/photos/johnbullas/albums/72157665153556498 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Rear Standard: 415mm to 280mm. data from minispares webbsite Based on this information, I guess if I adjustt my hi-lows to get #9 at the middle of the travel ranges for the lowered shock absorbers, I won't go far wrong OR would you say leave a greater percentage of the travel for bumps? i.e. sit him at closer to to 215mm than 292mm for the fronts?
