[Nobbc] Nobbc Weekend Update

I spoke with Bob, organizer of the Oakmont show today. No one from our
club called him to say if they were coming so he filled all 60 of the
show slots and no longer has space available for us. So cancel the
Saterday ride to the show. If anyone would like to go see the show let
me know and we'll make arrangements to meet somewhere and head over.

Many of you still haven't joined the email list server. Those that have
are starting to use it and, hopefully, finding it a useful tool.

I have asked Tcherek to put the following on the web page and hope that
it may help those of you who are undecided to sign up.

Club members and interested persons are urged to join the Nobbc email
list. Many of you are familiar with the many British car email lists
hosted by Team.net. They have kindly allowed our club to have an Nobbc list.

If you're not familiar with the concept of a list server, it allows you
to send one email to the list and have it sent out to every list member.
This allows vastly better communication with other club members to
better exchange questions, ideas, ride suggestions, parts requests, etc.
Club announcements will still be emailed the old way for the time being
but comments and feedback can quickly be returned via the list.

The list is text based so no need to worry about malware as attachments
and HTML codes are stripped off before mailing.

The list is an opt-in list; you must request membership (no charge!). At
present the list is open to subscription by anyone who has an interest
and hopefully will remain so. Only list members may see the membership
list so spam will not be a problem. It should prove to be an asset to
our Nobbc community.

To join, go to http://autox.team.net/mailman/listinfo/nobbc and follow
the simple subscription directions. You will receive a confirmation
email that you will need to respond to before becoming a member. While
you are on the team.net site, I suggest checking out their other British
lists. Almost every marque is represented. I have been a member of the
MGs list for a long time now and have found it to be indispensable.

Please join now if you haven't already done so.

Ron
