[Nobbc] New Years Ride Old Speckled hen

You are very right. We did an overnight at the Pelican a couple of months ago.
We had fun overall but management of the facility was a bit lacking. Darts and
the Snook, plus restaurant fireplace and small tub in room made it feel
authentic...especially with coastal mists.

I really enjoy Vladimirs in Inverness. Try a taste of Becherovka with their
Czech Pilsner.

The combination of a dartboard, and well handled beer is sadly rare.
The Pelican Inn at Muir Beach is a wonderful old pub (shipped from the
UK lock stock and barrel) but they manage to ruin any perfectly good
beer that is not in a bottle. Beer on tap is invariably over
carbonated and too cold. When asked by the barmaid recently what I
thought of their pint I was very candid, and then told her that they
had real competition now over the hill in Mill Valley. 20 years ago
the publican cared. Apparently not the case any longer. A shame, I
used to really enjoy riding over the hill for a summer pint on the lawn.

The barmaid does her best to charm, but in the end it doesnt make up
for badly handled beer!

Cheers
Mark
