[Shop-talk] Garage door opener problem

If didn't work when it was cold, then worked again later when it was warmer, 
I really doubt that it's stripped gears.

Electrical / electronic issue ?  If it clicks but doesn't run, perhaps a 
sticky relay, maybe distorting a bit with the cold weather ??
