Do these numbers that you're passing along come from the manufacturer, or from someone who's taking 
oil that they purchased and measuring it?

The most comprehensive discussion/resource I've found about this topic is from Chuck Navarro of LN 
Engineering, who's been tracking this for a couple of years and has contracted with an independent 
lab to do actual measurements. The real problem here is keeping up with how quickly the 
manufacturers change their formulations!
