Yep Mark, you "hit the nail on the head" !!  Bad pun - sorry.
NOT !!   LOL

Also chaps, if the need for caulk is desired put it IN the joint
FIRST and then tap end of board being 'joined'.  Excess will
be pushed out and is easily cleaned-up with a rag/finger/paper
towel/etc. .
