I got an offer form Verizon that offered an app to block spam calls for $2.99 a month per line. So Verizon has taken a major problem for its customers and converted to a profit center for itself.

Caller ID and a recorder help to screen the nonsense. I block robocalls on my cell and rarely get any calls on it other than from my contacts.

Android has made it easier by tapping on the number in your call log and there is now a "block caller" option at the bottom. previously it was buried in the settings.

It sounds like providers are hearing from their customers about this, and have most likely reached a threshold where they realize this will hurt their bu$ine$$ if they don't adopt a solution soon.

Today I called their 800 number and got bank of america. After three failed attempts and a call back I finally spoke to a person and she told me it was a scam and they mask their number and it shows BoAs 800 number. She said there was nothing they could do... but put me on BoAs do not call list but offered no incouragement that that would stop the calls
