Well, after being a dumba** I finally called DirectTV for help. My slow old
brain was telling me my dumb tvs were actually smart tvs with the ROKU boxes

RDirecttv rep agreed and showed me how to access and set them up

I'm streaming big time now, baby

thanks for all the suggestions… I'll save
the info if I need a change in the future

john

We ditched Dish &/or DirectTV a few years ago. Their price kept climbing (even
though 'new' customers got a break) and the signal would be lost at the mere
prediction of rain.

We switched to Spectrum and tried their TV service. The connection was good but
again, the price kept climbing once we were no longer 'new'.

About a year ago we cancelled the Spectrum TV and now use You Tube TV. There is
a fee for the service - which we share with our son-in-law. The one downside is
we are halfway between Raleigh & Greensboro, North Carolina. Depending on where
our internet cable makes its connection our local channels vary between the two
cities. I
haven't figured out how to make it choose one or the other.

We tried several streaming services and switched to YouTubeTV 4 or 5 years ago. All of the channels you mentioned are included with their base packages. We watched it on both a Roku TV and via Amazon Firesticks with no problems. That said, we recently bought a new TV that used Google’s operating system and it works even better on that. (I even put an old TV in the shop with a Firestick. 😄)

No complaints, other than the fact that the price keeps going up, just like everything else.

Take a look @ Amazon prime video. While they don’t rave the full channel, they do have at least some of the shows.

I got rid of Dish about 3 years ago & set up GetChannels for local stuff (needs antenna) & stream everything else from Amazon, PBS, Britbox & and few others. Much cheaper than what I was paying, even including the cost of Amazon Prime.

AT&T contacted me saying they are doing away with my U-verse service. They offered Directv stream as my best option...cheaper, faster and with 300 mg internet...
sounded good.

Then for my local stuff and other their suggested a Roku device. Bought 3.

Now upon install I find that channels that were included with Uverse ...i.e. Hallmark, HGTV, Food Network, Fox news and others (all my wife's
favorites)
were not included but only supplied as a subscribed service at anywhere between
5 and 10 bucks a month...

Looking for alternatives to Roku device or other way to get those channels
included... Cable is a no-go We only have Spectrum locally and
it's mostly down
all the time

suggestions appreciated

and I'm
going to get back to the Bluetooth hearing aid stuff soon.
