Working on my 50 year old Triumph Spitfire, and I'm looking for the sealer
that is used between the master cylinder bracket and the firewall.  We
always called it dum-dum.  It came in pencil-sized strips liked up on heavy
waxed paper.

But when I go to the FLAPS and ask for dum-dum, they look at me like I'm
doomed sort of dum-dum.

Is there another name for this stuff?

Try an RV supplier.  There is probably an official name for it but I've
always called it dum-dum...

Try looking for Butyl Sealant Tape.  This is what I used to seal the
transmission tunnel on my Spitfire. I think this is pretty close to the
original material.

When I bought it the guy said it was called "Dum Dum."? And the Box says "Dum Dum."? There are many other similar products that go by other names but Dum Dum has become the generic reference.? Like Q-Tip or Kleenex.? I had to go to an auto paint store to find it.? That is also where I bought Fuzor polyurethane seam sealer but this is for parts you don't want to come apart.? Ever.
