[Shop-talk] AGM battery: OK to lay it on its side?

I could swear that I used to run an AGM battery meant for a Honda Gold
Wing, laid down flat in my Lotus Elise. That car has gone away.

I bought a Birkin and there is a larger automotive AGM battery lying on its
side.  This battery won't fit in there standing up with the terminals on
top.  Is it OK to continue to use the mounting done by a previous owner?
